Reflection of my son growth in White Stag
Reflecting back on what aspects of White Stag have impacted my son’s life, and indirectly my own, has been quite a challenge because it has become so embedded into the man that he is today. Picking out one or two examples seems to minimize the true influence White stag has made in his life. That being said, I will do my best to highlight. The following trait: Leadership. The training he received in White Stag as a candidate along with being on staff for numerous years helped prepare him for countless experiences in his life. From connecting in a social setting, to interacting in a job interview, and even persuading an organization to modify their current policies and procedures. Learning interpersonal communication and coupling that with a pro-active approach removes all limitations to what can be accomplished. I have been fortunate to not only witness this in my own son, but also in countless children over the last two decades I have been involved in White Stag.

White Stag has positively impacted the lives of two of my children, emotionally, relationally and physically. They learned to function well in a group, often ending up as quiet leaders. They learned to work well with difficult people and to be tolerant. They learned to reach beyond the natural stopping point in pursuit of their goals. As youth, they could talk comfortably in front of a group of adults and peers. The partnership between our family and the White Stag Program has set them up to be more productive and well rounded adults. I only wish we had found White Stag sooner for my two older kids.

White stag has changed my life. I am now more confident and independent because of white stag. Going through the program has given me critical life skills that don’t think I would have gotten anywhere else. It’s prepared me for life. It has taught me how to make life goals and make smaller goals to achieve them.

“This program helped both of my kids overcome some internal fears to go on to lead larger and larger groups both in and out of White Stag.”
I believe that having my three children involved in the White Stag youth leadership program is one of the most important things I have done as a parent for them. All three of my children have participated in all levels of the program. The positive impact on their character and development into young adults cannot be overstated. Their confidence, organizational skills, and caring for others I attribute directly their experience in the White Stag program.

I am thankful every day to have been raised in the White Stag family. When looking at the list of people in this group, I am overwhelmed with love and gratefulness. I learned to be respectful, resourceful, confident, empathetic, and brave. And, I have a whole pocketful of great songs to teach to my Elementary Music students! When planning lessons for teaching, I instinctively implement the Manager of Learning competency. At the end of each weekly class session, we always sit in a circle and have Campfire Time, singing songs around my little candlelit “fire”. This warm and sweet time of fellowship is my tribute to ALL of you. Love and light to you!

Excellent camps for youth to grow in! Staff is well trained, The food is great, and the best part is my children learned a lot while having a great time. They are still talking about it and singing the songs! Well Done White Stag!

I felt my time at White Stag was a great experience. I was hesitant to go to camp because I didn’t like the idea of camping or the idea that I didn’t know anyone there. But towards the end of the week, through bonding activities, I felt more comfortable with the people around me and became accustomed to being outdoors. I t was an amazing opportunity that I can’t wait to possibly participate again next year.
My experience with White Stag was a different environment that what I am used to. I did not have a lot of camping/backpacking experience in the past. I learned valuable leadership skills during this experience as well as how to actually camp. It helped me to open up with my peers at camp and build friendships with them. I loved camp Lindblad “White Stag” and hope to return the following years to come.
